Aspire by Athena GESDA
Building Opportunity Together
Aspire by Athena GESDA is the social impact initiative of Athena GESDA, created to help ensure that every young person, regardless of their background, circumstances or where they grow up, has access to opportunities that enable them to realise their full potential.
Working in partnership with schools, universities, businesses and education professionals, Aspire focuses on expanding access to knowledge, skills, experiences and networks for young people attending schools in communities where educational and career opportunities may be more limited.
Founded on the belief that talent is everywhere but opportunity is not always equally accessible, Aspire seeks to widen participation long before university applications, helping young people build the confidence, communication skills, curiosity and aspirations that empower them to shape their own futures.
Working alongside schools and local communities, we co-design programmes that respond to local priorities rather than imposing predetermined solutions. Through listening, collaboration and long-term partnerships, we aim to complement the excellent work already taking place in schools while creating opportunities that broaden horizons, inspire ambition and help level the playing field for future generations.
Our programmes may include English communication, leadership development, digital and AI literacy, entrepreneurship, financial literacy, employability skills, critical thinking, creativity, global citizenship, mentoring and career awareness.
Alongside these learning opportunities, we work closely with schools to understand where additional support could have the greatest impact. This may include educational resources, books, technology, internet access, learning materials or specialist expertise. Through our network of universities, businesses, charitable organisations, volunteers and partners, Aspire seeks to connect schools with donations, resources, professional expertise and practical support that help create more equitable learning opportunities for their students.
Aspire also brings together an international network of volunteers, including teachers, university staff, students, employers, industry professionals and education specialists who contribute their knowledge, experience and time through workshops, mentoring, resource development and school engagement, both in person and online.
To guide the long-term development of the initiative, Aspire is supported by an international Working Group comprising representatives from schools, universities, industry and the wider education community. Together, they help ensure that the initiative remains collaborative, locally informed, sustainable and centred on creating meaningful opportunities for young people.
Initially launching in India, Aspire has been established with a long-term vision to work alongside schools and communities where greater access to educational opportunities can have the greatest impact. As the initiative grows, we aspire to expand into other emerging education regions through trusted local partnerships.
Aspire reflects Athena GESDA's commitment to ensuring that international education creates value beyond student recruitment. By bringing together global expertise with local knowledge, we aim to ensure that more young people, regardless of their social, economic or geographic circumstances, have access to the knowledge, skills, confidence and opportunities needed to thrive in an increasingly interconnected world.
